I have been riding a motorcycle since 1979 and I do agree with your selection's I currently have 2 bike's one of them is a 2001 GSXR 600 and it is the fist bike I have owned with a digital speedo and most of the time i can't read it at least it still has the analog tack and all the electronic's on the new bike's are ( in my opinion ) only there because of all the crap on car's and they think if the bike is easy to ride more people will buy them ,people are lazy these day's and want every thing easy-it's the hard to ride that give's the rider the satisfaction that you got that corner right.knowing that the bike didn't save you from crashing. a good rider on a old 600 will leave the newbie on his 240hp bike behind on a twisty road. And because of the AMA and the FIM you can't race it if you don't build it for the public (want to use wing's in world super-bike better be on the production bike's,want to use electronic's on your race bike's better be on the production bike) same with the high horse power to race in the super-sport production base classes. I have one worst trend that you didn't mention FLAT BLACK PAINT ON EVERY FUCKING BIKE IN THE SHOWROOM. I like colour

Well, MV Agusta introduced the winglets on motorbikes in...1974 with no one else than Phil READ. It's certainly useful on tracks but, for anything else than picking girls on a bar or being used as a picknick table on a daily basis, I'm not really certain it's really a change.

Wow I totally agree and think it even ruins racing. I want absolutely no rider aids and a analog tach. I don’t mind the digital speedo but that’s it. And this is the reason I still ride the 5vy 04/06 R1. My latest I found with 715 miles on it. Gotta love it.

1. Winglets have nothing to do with power 2. They can provide some downforce to get better grip 3. Wingelts direct air in a uniform way arround the bike making it more stable at higher speeds 4. They reduce air vortextes that can decrease air resistance siginificantly (these are also used on planes that decrase drag by up to 30%) Giving you better mpg Seriously. I dont want to hate but at least consider the fact that behind every piece of bodypanel on any car or bike from any big brand has several engineers behind it who have studied aero/fluiddynamics and have worked days if not months designing, redesigning and testing these parts.

I hate saying something in the comments if I have nothing good to say but It sounds like youre crying abut every subject you mentioned. Like everything in this world it all has to evolve. From the bottom to the top these companies offer a huge range of motorcycles. This video makes it sound like people can only buy these crazy super bikes, Thats not true. motorcycle companies have the ability to offer great entry level bikes and insane bikes that will out ride pretty much anyone, Smells like freedom to me. The fact that we can just go out and buy these wild bikes is totally a personal decision and why not if thats what we want? Sure its over kill but these electronics allow people of today to ride with all this power problem free. Its very smart. Now my honest thoughts were expecting to hear more casual bad trends, like people who ride with no mirrors, or the small chest protectors, or riding in sneakers, or even some corky mods to the bike that may harm more than they help. I do enjoy most of your videos but this one felt more like you want to hold back the trend of motorcycles evolving over time.

In regards to your statement about technology (TFT displays) bringing down the replacement cost of OEM parts is a joke. Once a manufacturer has sold their product to you (a 1 time purchase), replacement parts is the only way they’ll get any more of your money, & they’re not interested in keeping that aspect economically affordable, their yearly targeted profit margins are all that matter to them.

Yammie this video is based on your personal opinion, some of these trends are quite helpful and like with car enthusiasts you will find people who like/dislike new features and trends, both elaborating why old/new stuff is better. I'm on the fence about the added complications of electronics. I just took possession of a 2019 KTM 790 and my other ride is a 2011 KLR 650, polar opposites in terms of electronic ride management. The KTM is an absolute jet compared to the KLR and I can't understand your objection to throttle by wire. The KLR is a superb machine but I had to spend thousands upgrading the brakes and suspension to make it an acceptable street bike, not to mention the Doohickey.

The biggest loss is the extinction of the 'standard' motorcycle. EVerything today is either a cafe racer or a cruiser. Which is why I'm still riding my V65 30 years later. No one wants to be folded up into a pretzel for hours riding a bike every time he (or she, I know) takes a ride. A standard with a reasonable rack or small trunk on the back to carry stuff makes a bike a reasonable option to go back and forth to work and school, and a comfortable seat for the lady riding the back makes all the difference as well.

“Aerodynamics are still new to motorcycles” do you actually know anything

Vor 9 Tage
Swampster70
Swampster70

"Aerodynamics are new to motorcycles" - really? Aerodynamics have been a part of motorcycle development for years. It's the reason sports bikes look the way that they do. It's the reason that a set of racing leathers have the hump behind the shoulders. Look back over the last 100 years of speed records on Bonneville and look at the shapes used to reduce aerodynamic drag. Now, instead of reducing drag or redirecting airflow for cooling, engineers are finally looking at using aerodynamics to increase grip and reduce wheelies.

I agree with you on the horsepower race. On a street I barely use anything above 150 bhp and if I do, only for a fraction of seconds. I would have bought a new 750 cc bike but unfortunately nobody produces new 750s anymore (the GSX-R is 8 years old). That's why I went for the closest superbike, closest to a 750, which for me is Honda's Fireblade - weakest bike with arguably the best handling. Also agree with you on TFT-Displays. Too expensive when they fail and fail they will after a couple of years. I don't agree on driver aids, especially when it comes to ABS and cornering ABS - streets can be wet or some animal waits after a corner, than ABS can save your life. Traction control is also nice to have and at least you can switch it off (ABS can't for Japanese bikes). That said, I would not need throttle by wire but I assume that it is a requirement for TC - at least makes the implementation of a TC easier. Winglets - for me completely useless and something more to repair when you touch the ground.

a grandpa video, cribbing about the 'golden days'. The fuel injected Daytona, with ABS, adjustable forks and quick shifter too takes away the 'experience' all the features are the evolution to motorcycling, and getting supersport for commuting was never logical, to begin with. so once we acknowledge the fact that we are crazy people handling potentially fatal machines in traffic The worst trends in sports bikes are: 1. Vlogging from home to the supermarket. 2. go pro on top of the helmet. 3. carrying a DSLR camera with your bike and stopping every 10KM to take pictures. 4. Touring cases on supersport motorcycles. 5. squids doing stunts on streets. 6. Full system exhaust on machines already making power north of 200 out of the factory. (use the muffler please) 7. not doing a track day 8. Hitting the rev limiter in neutral. 9. ditching out on quality safety gear. 10. random MotoGP talks about Marq vs Rossi. when we can all agree that we all want to finish a race like Melandri did in Phillip Island, 2006.

I think all the things you stated just bloats the price beyond what I want to spend on a car. It's insane to state that the new ducati's run from 20-40k+. Then manufactures are complaining that people don't buy them... I wonder why, not really. I have a liter bike and find that I have more fun, and feel more comfortable on my 600. It's so much easier to drive fast than the liter bike. I'm all for improvement, but I think they should keep 600's pure, non electronic, non tft, basically everything you mentioned and keep the price down. What makes a motorcycle amazing is having all the power for a little price. I don't think manufactures really get that, and all these changes are making them too expensive to throw money at for a toy.

Throttle by wire is needed for easier emission controls as well as communicating for electronics. Cables need maintenance. Computers have no moving parts so last a very long time. Everything is software controlled. With Euro 5 in 2020 with 30% less emissions more computer controlled everything but more mechanical devices added to the engine which are part of moving parts maintenance thing. The Vrod and other bikes are disappearing cuz not passing Euro 4. Cars are already Euro 6 with 7 at 2020. Gas motors will be very expensive to repair as more things are strapped on to help emissions.(turbos, Superchargers, lean mixtures, particulate traps, direct injection, higher compression, hotter motors, bigger radiators, bigger catalytic converter‘s)

Vor 10 Tage

Basically you're not a supersport guy it seems! Remember, 6 axis IMU is there only on motorcycles which are track focused! The liter-class motorcycles are built around track and people who buy them either want that Race-bike/motoGP feel or else they take them to the track! Which is why the supersports come tech laden! Remember, not everyone who goes on track is a pro, there are beginners and the electronics help them save their asses! If you want a old ass motorcycle the you're better off buying old ass harleys! You cant escape tech! These beauties will go extinct around 2025-2030, so we hardly have over 5-10 years left to ride these petrol guzzling beauties. So quit bitching and start riding!

Just like our living room moved into cars with distractions, so has the beginnings of distractions moved into motorcycles. Electronics can. save your life without u knowing. Scrolling through music, calling on your bike, or 200 horses ready to stampede, you need additional safety. Electronic stability control was mandated in 2012 in cars to compensate for poor driving skills when a rollover was inevitable.(IMU/ABS/traction control). High horsepower cars get people in trouble when they switch the nannies off. Motorcycles need to be safer which includes monthly emergent skills as well as use of electronics. There are still people that believe they would rather Be thrown through a cars windshield than wearing seat belts.
